| Russian women are not career oriented |
Staying at home is a luxury for Russian women.
For most Russian women being exclusively a housewife is a kind of unaffordable luxury. The sad state of the Russian economy forces most women to work. So, it's no surprise that they consider it quite a luxury when a woman can stay at home. The social status of a house wife in Russia is quite high. Furthermore, in Russia it's much more daunting for a Russian woman to pursue a career than for a man. Looking for job opportunities in the Russian classifieds is very discouraging for Russian women.
Russian women at work not accepted by male co-workers
Even if Russian women ascend to top positions, they will never be accepted as equals by their male colleagues and clients. They will have to show again every day that they are not a "chicken". Chicken is not a bird - woman is not a human being. Pursuing a career in Russia for Russian women is not a reasonable choice. No money, no respect and a lot of harassment. And for what? Dissatisfaction guaranteed. Most Russian women are used to working very hard. And even if they cherish and seek to become house wives and devote themselves to their husbands and family, they are quite capable and willing to work outside of the home to provide for the family if necessary.
Russian women at work
Most of the classified employment ads specify men only. And, there are no gender discrimination laws in Russia. Women are paid less, and have fewer employment opportunities. Salaries are so low in Russia that even a successful career doesn't guarantee a good quality of living. There are, however, certain "premium" jobs that pay quite well but these jobs require that Russian women render sexual favors to clients, employers, etc. All these factors contribute to why Russian women are not as interested to seek a career as their Western sisters. Home life is much less stressful and far more satisfying.
